1. Review the preparation and care instructions
These instructions are reproduced from page 1 of the supplied K&B Solutions waiver.
Before your appointment
In preparation for your appointment, please remove all small appliances, decor, and personal items from the room(s) / areas where the refinishing will occur. Please move important furniture and decor out of the workspace or cover completely with plastic or old bed sheets. K & B Solutions will make every effort to minimize overspray or damage to personal belongings. We will cover all necessary walls, cabinets, and furniture as much as we can without being counterproductive to our reglazing process. However, we cannot be held responsible for ensuring the entire living space and all of its contents are completely covered.
What to expect and cleaning instructions
Our reglazing process will make your tub/countertop shiny and like new but will not repair chipping, flaking, knife marks, rust or delamination of old material. We make every effort to diagnose these issues in the quoting stage of the work and before work begins. Due to the limited history of the surface being reglazed, we can only make claims about the refinished surface based on our experience and knowledge.
Our material cures hard and is a non-porous surface. The process is similar to painting but the actual material being applied is not paint. We recommend regular cleaning (at least once per week) with Windex or 409 as these provide good general cleansing but leave no residue that could interfere with the finished product. For tub cleaning, the best policy is to wipe the tub down with your towel when you get out of the shower to ensure that water does not sit on the surface for extended periods of time. This is most helpful when used in conjunction with body washes as most of them tend to be water based and do not have waxes and oils like bar soaps do. If you do use bar soaps, we recommend normal cleaning in order to remove soap scum from the surface of the tub. We do not recommend Scotch Pads or Soft Scrub as these will wear down the life of the newly reglazed surface. Most manufacturers provide instructions for use on the back of the label. If the cleaning agent says that it’s safe for reglazed or acrylic surfaces, then you can use it on our material. Dripping faucets should be taken care of immediately and will void the warranty if damage arises from peeling associated with dripping water.
When properly cared for, your newly refinished surface will give you years of enjoyment.
